About Us
Established in 2020, NNTC (Ningbo Nottingham Technology CO.,LTD) is a subsidiary company wholly owned by UNNC (University of Nottingham Ningbo China) to serve as the asset management and operation platform. It conducts the negotiation, execution, management and operation of related commercial contracts, especially the commercialization of the scientific research achievements and the intellectual property of the University after it has been ratified by the University.
The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. Located in Ningbo, this award winning campus offering a UK style education has grown to establish a student body of over 9,000 in just 20 years. It is now fast developing into a hub of excellence for research and aiming for translating the research achievements into real world impact.
Your Responsibility
This role is to drive the strategic development of NNTC following UoN strategy, UNNC Campus Development Plan and leadership resolutions, directing a team of highly qualified professionals and lead the operations of NNTC in line with its Articles of Association and in compliance with University policy. It will monitor, manage and support the spinout development and IP licensing deals contribute to the financial sustainability of UNNC
Working closely with the Knowledge Exchange team of Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) Office, the role will develop and implement a business plan aligned with UNNC Campus Development Plan to ensure University’s IP commercialisation plan is successful, and is accountable to NNTC Board of Directors. In the future the role may also be instructed to manage other UNNC commercial entities or initiatives with commercial purposes. It will engage both internally and externally for a prospering commercialisation and innovation ecosystem, and build the in-house capabilities to achieve strategic goals at the same time.
About You
- Bachelor Degree or above
- Excellent strategic leadership and management skills.
- Proven people and change management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills including motivational negotiating, influencing and networking nationally and internationally.
- Ability to work in partnership with a wide range of partners internal and external to the University.
- Excellent communication skills in writing and verbally in both Chinese and English
- Extensive experience of working with research and innovation platforms, incubation or start-ups and engagement with venture capital companies and commercial acumen. More than 10 years working experience in relevant area and international work experience, or work in a highly international and multi-cultural environment is ideal
- Breadth of vision gained from extensive experience in the landscape of higher education sector globally and awareness of broader developments relevant to the University
- Highly developed knowledge of the principles, theory and practice of IP management issues, as well In-depth knowledge of changing industry trends and government policy.
