UNNC is part of the University of Nottingham’s Global University, and offers unique teaching and research opportunities in a highly dynamic economy.

The successful candidate will be expected to play a leading role in shaping research and teaching within the field of Product Design and Innovative Design. An important part of the role will be to act as the principal investigator on major research projects, leading funding bids, and developing innovative methodologies, and to Design and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate programmes while enhancing teaching standards and methodologies.

The person appointed will also be expected to disseminate research findings through high-quality publications and international conferences, fostering the department’s reputation, and engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote collaborative opportunities and enhance student learning experiences.

Candidates must have a PhD degree in product design, industrial design, interactive design, service design, ergonomics, or human factors engineering or a closely related field, and strong analytical and communication skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and innovative academic environment. A proven record of research excellence with publications in peer-reviewed journals and success in securing research funding, and extensive teaching experience in higher education, including curriculum development and leadership in academic programmes are also essential.

Salary will be within the range of 628,750 RMB to 772,893 RMB per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance).  In addition, an attractive package including employment support allowance, schooling and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of five years starting April 2025 or as soon as thereafter. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
