University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Senior Officer, Academic Affairs in Academic Services Office

Your Responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to coordinate and oversee the development, organization and operation of the student conduct areas, including academic appeals, academic misconducts and student formal complaints. The role holder will lead the function team to provide expertise and effective case management, and deal with complex administration tasks and will provide support to colleagues across all processes associated with these areas. The role holder will need to develop and maintain effective working relationships and communications internally, with faculties and professional service departments at UNNC and other campuses, as well as external bodies to provide professional services for both students and staff.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Identify gaps, shortfalls or challenges in existing policies, procedures and SOPs. Provide actionable solutions for continuous improvement;
  • Interpret, advise on and develop local student conduct-related processes/procedures/guidelines (e.g. Academic Misconduct, Academic Appeal, Student Formal Complaints);
  • Coordinate efficient and effective quality assurance mechanism for student conduct casework processes;
  • Leverage analytical tools to perform in-depth analysis of student conduct data including matrix, trends and outcomes. Present findings through formal reports, dashboards or presentations to identify gaps and opportunities for process optimisation and policy refinement;
  • Develop, set and communicate goals and schedules related to student conduct area, ensuring alignment with the University and department plan;
  • Manage a functional unit or team, with a focus on the professional development and performance management of team members to ensure the effective delivery of student conduct related services;
  • Engage with and seek support from other business units to ensure effective delivery of services, project objectives and goals.

 

About You

Essential

  • Master Degree;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and influencing skills in Mandarin and English, with an attention to detail;
  • Proven presentation and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven change management skills;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Experience of dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information;
  • Experience of effectively dealing with difficult people and complex situations;
  • Experience of working in higher education or within a regulatory environment;
  • Knowledge of government regulations and legislation related to higher education in China and the implications of non-compliance by UNNC.

Desirable

  • Project management training (PRINCE 2, APM etc) or equivalent;
  • Advanced IT skills beyond Office 365;
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting complex data sets;
  • Experience in establishing new or improving existing administration systems, service functions and procedures;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of University and MoE regulations/policies, procedures and work practice relevant to the role.
