Purpose of role:
The purpose of the role is to take responsibility to enhance students’ overall employability experience through providing tailored, professional and diversified employability services such as career education, guidance, advice, training and projects etc. This role will be responsible to manage, supervise and implement the employability development service across the range of its activities to ensure that the department will achieve the target of the university strategic plan and increase satisfaction rate of employability metrics in Nottingham Student Experience Survey.

- An understanding of key working relationships required with DCL, faculties and T&L etc.

Main responsibilities include:
1. Employability Education Service & Activity Management
Service Design and Development with a Long-term Vision:
Design and develop an employability education service grounded in a comprehensive understanding of postgraduate taught (PGT) students’ long-term career development. Ensure that career education content, guidance, advisory support, and project initiatives are strategically aligned to enhance PGT students’ employability outcomes. The service should be designed to evolve in response to students’ changing needs throughout their academic journey and into their professional careers, ensuring sustained relevance and impact.
Workflow and Activity Scheduling Optimization:
Establish a structured workflow and optimize activity scheduling for employability services. These should be in diversified formats, such as career diagnostic services, skill-building workshops, and some specific innovative projects. The goal is to ensure that the employability service integrates seamlessly with the overall missions of the Careers and Employability Service and the university's strategic plans. This integration will enhance the overall effectiveness of the university's career-related initiatives.
Managing Employability Events:
Support the planning, coordination, and execution of a variety of employability events, including mock interviews, skill-building workshops, self-exploration and career planning sessions, Ph.D. application guidance sessions, and civil service examination preparation workshops. Each event is purposefully designed to address different aspects of students' career development and enhance their chances of success in the job market.
Expanding the Career Advice Service Resource Pool:
Taking a leading role in expanding the resource pool for the Career Advice Service. Coordinate with a diverse group of industry professional advisors, such as industry experts, human resources (HR) professionals, and career advisors.
Career Assessments and Data Analysis:
Provide students with a suite of career assessment tools designed to explore their career interests, personalities, and other relevant factors. Employ a range of advanced techniques to analyze and interpret students' career-related data within the career system. This data-driven approach will help identify students' individual career needs as well as broader trends. Where necessary, source additional related information to support more informed career decision-making.
Developing the Career Digital Lab:
Drive the development of the career digital lab by identifying and integrating new career-related AI resources. This includes building a career coach library, providing access to advanced career assessments, and offering insights into global working policies and opportunities. Conduct in-depth product market research to identify suitable AI-based products. Support the procurement process, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and the successful completion of IT security tests.
Support for At-Risk Students:
Identify and closely follow up with students who face potential employment risks. Engage in an in-depth exploration of their career goals and organize customized career-related activities for specific academic programs. This targeted support aims to help these students overcome obstacles and achieve better employment outcomes.
2. Strategic Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
Foster Integrated Partnerships:
Proactively build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders, including academic faculties, the Department of Campus Life (DCL), the Department of Alumni Relations Office (DARO), and external vendors. The goal is to create a cohesive ecosystem of support for students.
Synergize Resources for Targeted Support:
Integrate resources from all parties to design and implement suitable employability enhancement services for target student groups, especially those students at risk of employment difficulties. Serve as the primary liaison between the Careers and Employability Service (CES) and FOSE to ensure a consistent service while providing specialized, in-depth support. Identify and promote relevant employment, internship, and further study opportunities.
Customizing Key Activities for FOSE Programmes:
Design and carry out targeted key activities tailored to the characteristics of specific programs and students' needs. Key activities will include industry insight sessions, technical skills workshops, and networking events that connect students with professionals and alumni from their specific field. These activities aim to help students better understand industry trends, improve their employment skills, and enhance their competitiveness.
3. Deliver Staff Training & Development
Design and deliver targeted training sessions and resources for university staff. Equip them with up-to-date knowledge on labor market trends, graduate recruitment processes, and effective employability coaching techniques to enhance their ability to guide students in their career planning.
4. Continuous Improvement
Content and Procedure Optimization:
Regularly review and enhance the content and procedures. Ensure that all information is up-to-date, aligning with the latest market trends, as well as the career development requirements stipulated by the authorities. Moreover, guarantees that these services are accurately and effectively delivered to the targeted student groups.
Capability and Expertise Development: Strengthen professional capabilities and expertise in career advice through continuous learning. This involves participating in regular internal training sessions and pursuing external professional qualification courses in fields such as career planning, further study advice, coaching, and mentoring.
5. Other
Participate in training and staff development events as trainer or trainee as appropriate; Maintain appropriate professional development, expertise and awareness; Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.
Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support
