University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Postgraduate Teaching Support Officer in Faculty Office of Science and Engineering.
Your Responsibility
Your key responsibilities include:
PGT Programmes Administration
- Assist in the preparation and submission of documentation required for the approval and establishment of new PGT programmes, ensuring adherence to university protocols and timelines.
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings to gather input and feedback regarding new programme development, documenting discussion points and action items effectively.
- Organize and facilitate PGT induction sessions and orientation events, ensuring that incoming students are welcomed and informed about available resources and support services.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all PGT programme structures, regulations, and policies, ensuring compliance and accuracy in communications and documentation.
Teaching and Learning Support
- Act as the first point of contact for students, addressing queries related to course information, academic support, and university services via in-person interactions, emails, and phone calls。
- Provide guidance on administrative procedures such as course registration, assessment submission, and examination policies, assisting students with any challenges they may face.
- Coordinate students’ applications, such as suspension, withdrawal, resume of study, extenuating circumstance, academic misconduct, academic appeal, complaint, etc.
- Work with Senior Tutors and relevant professional service teams for student’s well-being development.
- Set up the teaching related surveys, including the SET, SEM and EMF.
- Update the module specifications and assessment information in relevant systems.
- Work with Senior Tutors and relevant professional service teams for student’s well-being development.
- Support the exam and assessment process, including exam package preparation, mark processing, exam report validation, exam board meeting arrangement, assessment sample collection, module box collection, etc.
- Support the accreditation activities of programmes by providing relevant data, information and necessary logistical support.
- Monitor the academic progress of students, identifying those who need additional support and facilitating access to tutoring or counseling services as appropriate.
Operational Support
- Plan, organize, and execute academic and networking events for PGT students, including guest lectures, workshops, and career fairs, aimed at enhancing their academic and professional development.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote PGT events and initiatives through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and the university website.
- Provide executive support to Departments/Schools to ensure the smooth operations including Department/School meeting organization, taking meeting minutes and following up the actions as appropriate, management of Department/School events, and coordinating arrangements for visitors and guest lecturers, etc.
- Identify key Department/School administrative needs and ensure these are met.
- Work closely with academic staff and other professional service teams, to ensure Department/School and University policies and procedures are adhere to.
- Provide support to ensure delivery of high-quality service to the Faculty.
Feedback and Continuous Improvement
- Develop and implement systems for collecting student feedback on PGT programmes and services, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports on student satisfaction and engagement metrics to support ongoing evaluation and enhancement of PGT support services.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of relevant procedures, plans, policies, processes and working practices.
Data Management and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive databases of PGT student records, tracking enrollment statistics, retention rates, and graduate outcomes.
- Ensure the confidentiality of student information in line with university policies and relevant legislation.
Support for Faculty Initiatives
- Work alongside the Faculty professional services teams to identify strategic initiatives to promote PGT enrolment and support retention, including marketing campaigns and outreach programmes.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in PGT education to share insights and advocate for programme enhancements.
Other
- Participate in training and staff development events as trainer or trainee as appropriate;
- Maintain appropriate professional development, expertise and awareness;
- Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.
About You
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Proven presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Proven planning and organizing skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent data management and analysis skills.
- Proven track record of relevant work experience.
- Ability to work on own initiative and be part of a team.
- Experience of planning and progressing a series of work within general guidelines, using initiative and judgement without recourse to seniors.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the work practices, processes and procedures relevant to the role.
- Clear understanding of the regulations and codes of practice set for the conduct and output of the role.
