University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Teaching Fellow in Economics in School of Economics

Your Responsibility

Your key responsibilities include:

  • To plan and manage own teaching and provide advice as a member of the economic teaching team within economic programme of study, in a variety of settings including small group tutorials as well as lectures.
  • Identify the learning needs of students and ensure that the content, methods of delivery and learning materials meet the defined learning objectives of economic courses.
  • To develop a national reputation in teaching through contributions to scholarly debate and discussion in the field of economics including a contribution to writing up research findings for publication in leading journals and dissemination at national/international conferences etc.
  • To identify and investigate issues which relate to teaching and learning which may arise in the area of economics both individually and/or collaboratively.
  • To build internal and external relationships in order to share information, identify potential sources of funds and/or opportunities for collaboration.  Prepare proposals and applications to external or internal bodies for funding, for teaching innovation, enhancement projects or for own teaching development activities.
  • To supervise and provide first line support for undergraduate and/or postgraduate student’s projects, fieldwork and placements, as appropriate and contribute to collaborative decision making with colleagues on the assessment of students work to identify and respond to the diversity of students’ needs.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in relevant subject area. The role holder will be expected to deliver modules in the economics discipline, including but not limited to undergraduate modules in either international trade and macroeconomics or in household finance and applied microeconomics. The ideal candidate would be either a teaching specialist with extensive in teaching undergraduate courses or an early career researcher aiming to gain experience in teaching prior to entering into the academic job market. This is a temporary position for the purpose of delivering high-quality teaching and academic guidance within established programs in the School of Economics’ BSc Hons International Economics and Trade (IET) programme. The undergraduate IET programme is a flagship programme of the School of Economics. The programme has been acknowledged for its excellence in teaching, receiving the Provincial First Class Undergraduate Programme award from the Zhejiang Provincial Government.

Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support
The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of 1 year starting September 2025.

Salary will be within the range of RMB350,343 to RMB477,481 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance).  In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.
