Job Outline:

This role holder’s primary objective will be the recruitment of high-quality Chinese students to the University of Nottingham’s UK Campus, with a commitment to achieving university’s student recruitment targets. The role holder will support in developing and maintaining brand awareness in designated areas of China market, and identifying development opportunities for the University of Nottingham. The post holder will lead in building excellent professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, focusing on all stages of the student journey, from enquiry generation right through to converting the student to point of registration on campus.

The role holder will collaborate closely with colleagues in the UK, be line managed by the International Relations Manager, and be overseen by the Senior International Relations Manager based in Nottingham, UK. The position will require approximately one-third of the year for travel across China, necessitating a flexible approach to working patterns. 

Qualifications

Essential

  • Excellent literacy, presentation and interpersonal skills with evidence of building effective working relationships at all levels and communicating across a wide range of internal and external audiences
  • High proficiency in English and Chinese language
  • IT skills, highly proficient in the use Microsoft Office
  • Highly organised, self-motivated and committed, with the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision and find solutions to complex issues as they arise
  • Digital marketing and communications expertise in local Chinese channels such as WeChat, Youku and Baidu.
  • Ability to write engaging and well-received WeChat articles
  • Understanding of the UK recruitment practices
  • Experience of working in a target driven environment and evidence of successfully delivering against those targets
  • Experience of working with stakeholders such as academic staff, agents and school counsellors in a recruitment environment
  • Experience of managing advanced digital marketing campaigns, with a strong focus on ROI and statistical evaluation
  • Educated to degree level, 2.1 classification or equivalent
  • Previous overseas study

Desirable

  • Numerate with expertise in statistical software
  • Design skills for digital campaigns and production of online materials
  • Event co-ordination/management
  • Experience of being line-managed from distance
  • Experience of overseas study in the UK

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Recruitment Activities (50%)

  • Selecting and taking responsibility for registering the University’s attendance at appropriate online/face-to-face recruitment events, with the aim of promoting the university’s offerings to meet recruitment objectives;
  • Undertake independent travel to attend recruitment events and conducting regular visits to agent offices and international schools across China, to deliver counselling sessions, product trainings and other relevant supports with the aim of building professional and sustainable relationships with key external stakeholders including agents, school counsellors, prospective students and their families;
  • Conducting counselling sessions with potential applicants and offer holders to address inquiries about the offerings at the University of Nottingham, undertaking student interviews to assess academic suitability, with the objective of contributing student recruitment;
  • Providing support in hosting and arranging in-country visits by UK based staff members for recruitment objectives.

2. Enquiry Management and Communication (30%)

  • Efficiently and promptly respond to inquiries from potential students, parents, agent & school counsellors and other stakeholders, utilizing various communication channels.
  • Provide accurate and detailed information about the University's programmes, admission requirements, and relevant offerings.
  • Provide outstanding customer services to external stakeholders ensuring timely and effective communication. And demonstrate a willingness to go the extra miles to meet stakeholder needs and exceed expectations.

3. Contribute to Marketing and Recruitment Initiatives (10%)

  • Undertaking market research and provide insights on China recruitment to support the development and implementation of the annual target-driven recruitment plan.
  • Collect feedback from external stakeholders to gain valuable insights and perspectives. Provide market intelligence to contribute to the development and implementation of specific marketing/recruitment campaign as requested by ISR leadership team.

4. Team Operations (7%)

  • Provide support in designing and ordering marketing collateral and merchandise
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to cost-effectiveness in recruitment activities. And complete travel expense claims in a timely manner following the designated procedures and guidance.
  • Provide support in social media channels management as may reasonably be required

5. Other (3%)

  • Participate in training and staff development events as trainer or trainee as appropriate;
  • Maintain appropriate professional development, expertise and awareness;
  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.
