University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Public Relations and News Senior Manager

Your Responsibility

Your key responsibilities include:

This position plays a role in leading the PR & news strategy, management and execution, to amplify the UNNC brand reputation and social awareness, increase brand image and support marketing promotion in China. This role reports to the Deputy Director of PR & Communications.

The purpose of the role is to drive branding and marketing of UNNC through public relations management and content production, to maximize media exposure via building strong relationships with key media and executing PR activities and events, to provide the promotion news content for the social media team and marketing executives to secure maximum reach on social awareness. To ensure a crisis management set-up able to deal with potential issues 24/7.

  • Oversee customer-first, competitive and insightful public relations strategies, plans and calendars for public communications and content management, aligning with UNNC initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to team members. Direct and maximise the output of the team to enhance university’s reputation and impact.
  • Develop linkages with various types of media to position and promote UNNC, and maintain a close relationship with key media stakeholders including traditional media and new media.
  • Design and implement communications plans to maintain and enhance the number of media interviews and press coverage and ensure the goals of executive speaking opportunities and media briefings are achieved.
  • Develop a series of public relations activities for UNNC based on its marketing goals. Liaises with the wider marketing team in targeting specific markets and developing public relations strategies to reach these markets.
  • Create compelling corporate narratives, messaging, and themes to be used on a national and regional market level to extend the university’s industry thought leadership to key audiences.
  • Oversee content production, including but not limited to opinion editorials/bylines, speeches, press material and digital content, and deploy across multiple channels.
  • Provide executive engagement support, including press outreach and speaking opportunities.
  • Establish a complete crisis management system, formulate corresponding response mechanisms according to different crisis levels, and be responsible for public relations response to handle emergencies, so as to effectively control negative impacts in a timely manner.
  • Track and report public relations and communications performance including but not limited to campaign performance, to track and monitor the effectiveness and success of initiatives. Provide reports for executives and management on what worked and what didn’t work as well as actions to be taken.
  • Oversee content management of the Staff Portal and Student Portal to enhance efficient internal communications.
  • Provide executive communication counsel and assistance with developing speeches for senior leaders.
  • Communicate with relevant internal functions such as corporate branding and marketing, social media, etc. to use various media channels to deliver integrated marketing campaigns and the best result.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent International degree in a relevant field such as Marketing, Journalism, or Communication.
  • 5+ years’ experience in publicity and public relations.
  • Experience in managing businesses across more than one geography.
  • Marketing experience in Education is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, people management, team building, and project management skills.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities to assigned objectives and schedules.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and manage internal and external resources.
  • Professional writing skills.
  • Ability to lead and deal with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to deal with multi tasks and work under pressure.
  • Fluency in both Chinese and English.
  • Sound understanding of the relevant professional, legal and regulatory requirements of publicity and public relations.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent international degree in a relevant field such as Marketing, Journalism, or Communication, and excellent communication and presentation skills in both Chinese and English. 5+ years’ experience in publicity and public relations is necessary. Strong leadership, people management, team building, and project management skills, and the ability to work under pressure are preferable.

This is a regular post that you will be offered a fixed term contract initially of 3 years with a probation of 6 months with University of Nottingham Ningbo China.
