University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Teaching Fellow in Post Production in School of International Communications

Your Responsibility

Your key responsibilities include:

  • To plan and manage own teaching and provide advice as a member of the International Communication teaching team within the programme of study, in a variety of settings including small group tutorials as well as lectures.
  • Identify the learning needs of students and ensure that the content, methods of delivery and learning materials meet the defined learning objectives of post-production course(s).
  • To develop a national reputation in teaching through contributions to scholarly debate and discussion in the field of media production and post-production including a contribution to writing up research findings for publication in leading journals and dissemination at national/international conferences etc.
  • To identify and investigate issues which relate to teaching and learning which may arise in the area of post production both individually and/or collaboratively.
  • To build internal and external relationships in order to share information, identify potential sources of funds and/or opportunities for collaboration.  Prepare proposals and applications to external or internal bodies for funding, for teaching innovation, enhancement projects or for own teaching development activities.
  • To supervise and provide first line support for undergraduate and/or postgraduate student’s projects, fieldwork and placements, as appropriate and contribute to collaborative decision making with colleagues on the assessment of students work to identify and respond to the diversity of students’ needs.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Film, Media Production, Post-production, or a closely related field and have relevant industry experience in film, television, or commercial post-production workflows, from initial management of camera outputs (including LOG and/or RAW file formats), through picture editing and sound mixing, colour correction and grading, and final mixing and delivery. including experience with LOG and/or RAW file formats. They will demonstrate advanced post-production editing capabilities, with extensive experience in Adobe Premiere Pro and the ability (or willingness to develop the ability) to teach industry-standard tools such as Adobe After Effects, DaVinci Resolve Studio, and sound editing and mixing applications. In addition, the candidate should be able to advise on editing craft and deliver lectures, seminars and workshops in contemporary video editing and post production, including historical perspectives and emerging trends (such as AI tools). Starting September 2025, the school will launch its new practice-based MA program in Digital Screen Production, making this an opportune time for the right candidate to contribute to our post-production educational provision.

Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support
The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of up to 3 years starting June 2025. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.

Salary will be within the range of RMB350,343 to RMB477,481 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance).  In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.
