University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Senior Knowledge Exchange Manager in Research and Knowledge Exchange.

UNNC is a fast-growing hub for excellence dedicated to the advancement of research, innovation and knowledge exchange driven by a mission to solve problems and improving lives. The Research and Knowledge Exchange Office is looking for an ambitious, self-driven and talented external engagement executive with a passion to connecting the academia knowledge with the industry, the funding bodies, the society and policy makers, utilising our world-leading research to meet China's needs and address global challenges such as climate change and aging population, and to develop strategic opportunities related in AI and digital economy.

With business acumen and track record of relevant extensive work experience, you will play key role in the busy team developing industry partnerships, managing horizontal research projects, supporting the research communities across the University to engage with businesses and the society, delivering knowledge exchange impact through activities ranging from research collaboration, innovation, entrepreneurship, technology transfer to policy and public engagement.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Work with senior managers and key stakeholders in UNNC to evaluate UNNC’s capabilities in key sectors and strategic regions, analyse the development opportunities in the area, propose the strategic plan of future development in the key sectors and special projects, and resolve problems during the implementation.
  • Scope the potential for the identified key sectors aligning with PoCC, define and develop sector-related research and knowledge exchange activities and projects in UNNC and provide due support to PoCC by working with three faculties, UNUK, a variety of professional services teams and external partners from government bodies, leading companies and other potential funders.
  • Focusing on exploring and analysing the market demands in areas such as new energy, advanced manufacturing, industry design, architecture and creative industry, initialize new development plans for UNNC within university objectives, convince relevant academic staff to engage with RKE office for the new initiative, and manage the implementation process by working with other professional service teams in UNNC, in particular of solving internal operational issues where no clear guidance provided.
  • Develop strategic and new external partnerships with government bodies, corporate and professional bodies in China and abroad in the areas aligning with the UNNC campus development plan and contributing the RKE KPIs.
  • Perform as the project manager for the research digital transformation to oversee the project progress, coordinate with relevant internal departments/offices for support, provide professional advice and direction to the system vendor and make decisions for the successful delivery of the project if required.
  • Within the scope of research digital transformation, supporting office leaders to update the university RKE policy/procedure by providing professional advice, and implement them across faculties/professional service offices in a time horizon of more than one year.

About You

  • You should have over 4 years of experience in the relevant subjects;
  • You should have bachelor degree in science or engineering, business, management, economics and other related fields;
  • You should have excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, fluency in English & proven negotiating, influencing and diplomacy skills;
  • You should have knowledge of university operation and the policy of research funding agency in the municipal, provincial, national and international levels;
  • You should have experience of managing activities and projects of self and/or others;
  • You should have experience in developing customer relationships.
