University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit an Associate/Assistant Research Fellow in Faculty Office of Humanities and Social Sciences

Purpose of role

The post holder will support the Principal Investigator, academic staff and the faculty in successfully obtaining external research funding (including grants).

The post holder will contribute to research development activities, including research intelligence, evidence gathering, analysis and stakeholder coordination, as required.

Associate Research Fellow

Your Responsibility

  • Lead and coordinate complex, strategic and multi-party external funding applications.
  • Provide advice and guidance to academic staff on proposal development and funder requirements.
  • Deliver research intelligence, analysis and briefings to support Faculty research development.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and represent the faculty where appropriate.
  • Improve research development processes, resolve issues independently and maintain accurate records.

About You

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.
  • Substantial experience of supporting complex or high-value external funding applications.
  • Sound knowledge of funder requirements, proposal development and research funding processes.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to provide practical advice, work independently and manage competing deadlines.
  • Ability to produce clear funding application materials, briefings and reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant online research system.

Assistant Research Fellow

Your Responsibility

  • Identify and disseminate relevant external funding opportunities.
  • Support academic staff throughout the funding application lifecycle.
  • Assist with preparing and coordinating funding applications, proposals and supporting materials.
  • Undertake research, analysis and briefings to support funding activity and Faculty research development.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders, maintain accurate records and support continuous improvement.

About You

Essential

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.
  • Knowledge of external research funding and application processes.
  • Strong research, analytical, organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear funding application materials, briefings and reports.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders, independently and to deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant online research systems.

Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support

Salary will be within the range of RMB 102,746 to RMB 175,726 per annum depending on skills and experience. The post will be offered on a fixed-term outsourced contract with outsource company for a period of 1 year.
