We are looking for a qualified and committed Preliminary Year Tutor in Digital Literacy for Business to join the Centre for English Language Education.

Centre for English Language Education (CELE)

Since the development of the Nottingham-Ningbo campus in 2004, the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) has aimed to promote high quality teaching in its structure and support of academic programmes delivered in China. With over 110 academic staff, the CELE operation at UNNC is now one of the largest of its kind in the world and is currently supporting all UNNC students on its Preliminary Year, Pre-Sessional and In-Sessional Advising.

Preliminary Year Programme

The Preliminary Year Programme is offered to students in their first year of study at UNNC and accounts for 120 academic credits. The programme is currently a 50-50 split between modules focusing on specific academic subjects and modules focusing on the development of Academic English Language skills. Successful completion of the Preliminary Year is a pre-requisite for progression to the second year of study.

The position

The Preliminary Year Tutor in Digital Literacy for Business is an exciting project position that will lead the development of an innovative hybrid module catering to UNNC Preliminary Year business students. The successful candidate will work side to side with other Preliminary Year Tutors teaching business, economics, and critical thinking and contribute to teaching current modules as well. This 2-year temporary position will oversee the whole development cycle of the new module and is suitable for an individual with an innovative mindset, a passion for innovation and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff and external stakeholders in shaping a meaningful learning experience.

Applications are invited from individuals with the appropriate qualifications with a track-record of successfully course design in higher education context spanning online and blended formats and disciplinary knowledge in areas related to business, information technology and digital skills.

Salary will be within the range of RMB 337,904 – RMB 460,527 per annum depending on skills and experience, salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. In addition, you will have a range of benefits and entitlements, including accommodation and flight allowance, insurances, schooling support, relocation & repatriation support, and paid annual leave.

Posts are available from April 2024, although later start dates are negotiable, and will be offered on fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China for a period of two years.
