University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Data Analyst, in Strategy and Planning Team (fixed-term for 6 months)

Your key responsibilities include:

You will be expected to provide central support to the Strategy and Planning Team in preparing and analyzing university data, facilitating university planning, performance analysis, and reporting.

  • Support university planning-related data work, including student intake planning, student number projection and intake performance analysis.
  • Collect, aggregate, cleanse and analyse data from relevant university systems and data sources.
  • Support the preparation of regular university reporting by extracting, preparing and consolidating data according to different reporting requirements.
  • Validate data quality and identify data consistency issues, supporting timely correction and follow-up actions.
  • Use Excel, PowerPoint and relevant data preparation or analysis tools to prepare clear, accurate and well-structured data outputs.
  • Maintain clear records of data preparation workflows, version iterations and supporting documentation to ensure consistency and traceability.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests from internal and external stakeholders, quickly understanding data needs and providing appropriate outputs.
  • Support users’ enquiries relating to access to the university data platform and provide relevant guidance where required.
  • Support data collection and integration for performance review of faculties and key disciplines.
  • Consolidate data from different contributors into summary sheets and supporting materials to ensure reports are well evidenced and traceable.
  • Support other Strategy and Planning Team activities, meetings, events and reasonable tasks as required.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or above; a first degree in Statistics, Data Analysis, or a related field is a plus.
  • Relevant work or project experience in data analyst or similar roles.
  • Proficient in Excel; familiarity with Tableau or Alteryx is a plus.
  • Data-sensitive, with logical thinking, attentative to details and the ability to independently perform data tasks.
  • Ability to produce clear visual representations using Excel or PowerPoint, grounded in solid business understanding.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to use English as a working language.
