The University of Nottingham Ningbo China’s School of Computer Science is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow (in Computer Science; outsourced).

About the Role:

In this position, you will play a key role in driving high-impact research, developing innovative objectives, and formulating proposals within cutting-edge fields, including Computer Vision, Digital Healthcare, AI Optimization, and Software Testing. You will have the opportunity to leverage your initiative and creativity to expand your research portfolio, co-supervise talented research students, write proposals for external funding (particularly provincial and national NSF grants for young researchers), and publish work in top-tier international venues.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Experimentation (40%): Plan and execute research using recognized methodologies; analyze data, implement experiments, interpret results, and generate novel insights in AI, computer vision, digital health, or software testing.

Publication & Dissemination (20%): Lead the writing of high-quality papers for top-tier journals/conferences and present findings at national and international venues.

Grant & Proposal Writing (10%): Identify funding opportunities and assist in preparing competitive grant applications for internal and external bodies.

Supervision & Mentorship (10%): Co-supervise Master’s and PhD projects, and mentor undergraduate/postgraduate research work and placements.

Collaboration & Networking (10%): Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners, build research networks, and coordinate shared projects.

Operations & Development (10%): Manage research resources/labs, resolve research challenges, participate in staff development, and support operational duties.

About You:

• Education & Qualifications:
• A PhD degree in Computer Science or a related area awarded within the last 3 years, or proof of successful completion of a PhD.
• Eligibility to apply for provincial and national NSF grants for young researchers.
• Publication Record:
• Proven experience as 1st author publishing in top-tier journals or conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, AAAI, MICCAI, ICLR, TMI, MedIA, TMM, TCSVT, etc.
• Skills & Experience:
• Practical experience in applying research methodologies, models, and techniques relevant to the role.
• High analytical capability to interpret complex data, conduct experiments, and evaluate research texts critically.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
• Strong collaborative and relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders.
• Desirable Requirements
• Demonstrated success in securing external research grant funding.
• Ability to foster a vibrant research culture and mentor/inspire learning in others.
